About Jan

Jan has been an expert in the field of sustainability strategy for 30 years. He has helped companies and organisations create business security and strategic commitment in their sustainability work. This involves making sustainability issues clear and business related to those operating at the highest levels.

Therefore, it’s important that leaders understand which sustainability issues are relevant to the business and how to accurately prioritize among and manage these issues. Jan creates an understanding and awareness of business risks and opportunities, based on his personal experience from within leading multinational companies. Figuring out what others think the company should do is important; but even more so for the company itself to realise what needs to be done and to implement the most suitable adjustments.

With his extensive experience in the field, Jan has the ability to support business leaders in sorting, untangling and prioritising what the business or organisation should do. This could be hands-on operational activities as well as communication.

Having all employees on board is crucial, but it is equally important to communicate the company or organisation policy to clients, owners, financial backers, partners and potential employees.

To Jan, this is more than just a job; it’s a personal interest and passion. He stays up to date by continuously reading reports, newsletters, supporting research and development projects and by maintaining a global network. He keeps track of various industries and organisations in order to understand the reality in which they operate. He is passionate about developing sustainability work through the help of new technology and new business models.

Jan conducts industrial research on ‘servicification’ and aims to understand how digital technologies and AI may be used to support more sustainable business development.

Jan has a degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on industrial marketing. He has worked with, and within, the engineering, IT, telecom, retail and construction industries and with business development linked to sustainability issues at companies such as ABB, Electrolux, Ericsson and DeLaval. Today, he runs his own consulting business, with a network of partners to complement him as needed.

Jan is solution driven with an ability to rapidly work out the real challenges. A meeting with him will quickly result in hands-on activities and strategic insights.

In his spare time, he is involved in a project aiming to increase the biodiversity at Utö, an island in the Stockholm archipelago. This is a project which is about creating a better spawning environment for predatory fish as well as reducing eutrophication of the Baltic Sea.
