Many tell me that there is no time to reflect. I would argue that many do not have time for reflection because they have not actually taken the time to reflect. This vicious cycle is easy to fall into forever.
If we are to move from converting input to output, reflection is needed in between. For if we do not have time to reflect on how our input changes our work, how can we then influence and improve our output? It is only when we reflect that we process, analyze, and evaluate what we take in.
Through reflection, the connection between cause and effect becomes clear, leading to more conscious actions. It also helps us become more aware of habitual patterns so that we can introduce variation. And variation is absolutely necessary for learning. Therefore, in the long run, reflection is just as crucial.
